On walking days, it is important that every walker can be at the start on time. But our post staff also want to be in place before the road is closed for the marching crowd. The 50-kilometer runners start as early as 3:00 AM, and our first post staff leave at 2:00 AM to set up the first station.
In our camp, we have a wake-up service. Everyone can indicate what time they would like to be woken up. Some need time to wake up, while others can jump out of bed immediately. Our wake-up service follows a schedule, waking people up in 15-minute intervals. If someone hasn’t shown up for breakfast after being woken up, the wake-up team will check on them again.
This way, we prevent others in the camp from being disturbed by someone else's alarm. After all, in a quiet forest, sound carries far.
We are grateful to the staff who take on this nighttime task. Help is always welcome.
